Obituary for Louise Collins

Louise Collins
Louise Collins (Costello), passed away peacefully with her family present at her side on May 4, 2018, at Flushing Medical Health Center at age 76.
Louise Collins was born November 25, 1941 in Harlem, New York. She was the daughter of Jimmyrie Wynne Costello and Richard Holmes, and the Family made their home in Bronx, New York. She was educated in the New York Public School system and she worked for many years at Hammacher & Schlemmer, New York.
She was preceded in death by her loving mother Jimmyrie Costello and her three siblings (Jerry, James and Jimmyrie). She was the mother of nine children and devoted her life to raising them and her many grandchildren. She enjoyed helping people, spending time with her children, grandchildren and animals. Her favorite hobbies were taking photos, watching scary movies, playing cards, going to the casino, sewing and arts and craft.
She leaves to mourn her six sons: Alonzo (Gwen), Eric (Linda), Mario, Andre (Ofelia), Jeffrey, and Chad, as well as three daughters: Crystal (Jerald), Tracy (Richard), and Carol (Chandra). The children fondly remember when they asked “Ma, who is your favorite?” Louise always responded, “Whoever is in need at the time.”
Also, in mourning are her sister, Jannette Costello, two nieces: Christine and Clarisse and five nephews: Darryl, Eugene, James, Michael and Jerome. In addition, her legacy continues with her (21) Grandchildren, (20) Great Grandchildren, Great-Great Grandchildren and a host of other family members and friends. Her grandchildren playfully teased each other with “She was my Grandmother first.” Louise takes with her the secret family recipe to the Costello Potato Salad … some have tried but all fail. She will be dearly missed at every family function and will remain in all our hearts and memories.
