Obituary for Randolph Munford Jr

Randolph Munford Jr
On February 2, 1963 Randolph Munford Jr. opened his eyes. On Sunday, May 6, 2018 he closed them forever. As in life he watches over them: wife, Jacqueline; mother Ernestine "Mom"; children, Shavon, Dontay, Tawana, Gloria, Randy, Da'Mir and Corey; sisters, Retta, Tricia and Tawana. And as though his life could get no greater, he was blessed by having two of God's finest people in his life, Oliver and Dorothy Sample, his mother and father-in-law.

Randolph Munford Jr., 55, of Essex, Maryland, passed peacefully on Sunday, May 6`h, 2018 at Gilchrist Hospice Facility. "Randy" was born on February 2, 1963 in Flushing, New York to Ernestine Medley and the late Randolph Mumford; of their children, he was their only son.

Randy, lovingly known to some as "Baybra" (short for baby brother) or "Jr.", attended bayside High School and played a little basketball. He was a jack of all trades and very hands on. From installing air ducts to plumbing, he was a hard worker at heart. He also had a passion for truck driving. He was a loving father, son, brother, uncle and husband. Although his demeanor was stern, his sense of humor is what will be missed the most. Whether he was cheering for the Bulls, the 49ers, or the Yankees, he was a man that enjoyed his sports and in his leisure time he enjoyed playing pool at the local spot with a few friends.

Those left to cherish his loving memories: his mother, Ernestine Medley; his wife, Jacqueline; his sisters, Loretta, Patricia, Tawana, Rhonda, Faunea, and Lequisia; children, Dontay, Shavon, Tawana of his union with Carol Brown; Gloria and Randy Jr., of his union with Katrina Gaddy; and Da'Mir and Corey of his marriage with Jacqueline Sample-Munford; grandchildren, Kandis, Tayla, Aliahia, and Gionna; nieces and nephews, Leslie, Cheryl, Pamela, Douglas, DJ, Andrew, Darren, Deshawn, AniyahMae, Jamal, lyana-Marie, Darryl, Shalia, Kayla and Tiffany ; in-laws, Oliver and Dorothy Sample; sisters-in-law, Pricilla and Yolanda Sample; God sisters, Judy Williams, Joanne Watts and Tynetra Duke. Special thanks to David and Marnie Terry and cousin, Senora. (If there is anyone that we have forgotten to mention, please blame our head and not our heart.)

A special epitaph from Jacqueline Sample-Munford (wife):

We met in June 2001. We moved to Baltimore, Maryland in December 2001 for a better life and to start our life of happiness together. And that it was. Our lives were filled with joy, happiness, and much love. We got married on April 5, 2008. It was such a joyful day for both of us. God blessed us with two handsome, loving boys Da'Mir and Corey. Our home was filled with much excitement and lots of ball playing, fixing and building things between father and sons! Randy taught and instilled many good things into his growing sons, things that they will need to know as they mature into their young manhood. Things that they will never ever forget. And most of all, to always respect and take care of their mother. He was a loving and caring father to all his children, and they all loved him bock even more. He was a gentle giant, when people met him they just clung to him, especially children.
