Obituary for Leo Mickens

Leo  Mickens
Leo Mickens was born on May 15, 1931 in Atlanta Georgia, to George Baskin and Lucy Mickens Adams. He departed this life on August 9, 2018 at Jamaica Hospital in Queens, NY where he was called to be with the Lord.

Leo was raised and educated in Atlanta Georgia where he enlisted and served as a member of the United States Army in 1951. He later receives an honorable discharge for his excellent and committed service in 1954.

Throughout his teenage years, into his adult life, Leo developed an interest with working on cars, his love grew while driving Cadillacs. Leo traveled on numerous cruises at which he enjoyed with his wife Dolores, as well as family and friends. He was a dedicated employee with the United Airlines for 37 years, until he retired in 1993.

Leo leaves to cherish in his memories his beloved wife of 61 years, Dolores Mickens, Gary, Michael(Deborah) Anthony, Leo Jr., Kim, Linda, Ron (Sharlene) 10 grandchildren Nicole Talmadge, Tony Mickens Jr.,Michael Mickens Jr., Leo Philip Mickens III, Malcolm Mickens, Jennifer Cook, Ronaisha McLane, Ron Reese, Cameron Mickens, Ashley Mickens, 6 great-grandchildren 4 sisters, pastor Dannetta Sparks, Linda Grimes, Lois Olgburn, Kathy Cullen.

He will be deeply missed by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members and many friends and all who knew him.
