Obituary for Celestine Langston

Celestine Langston fondly known as “Stine” by family, was born February 16, 1931 in New Orleans, Louisiana.

After moving to New York in 1945, she worked as a Nurse’s Aide at Irving Nursing Home; caring for patients for more than 20 years. Upon closing of the nursing home, she devoted her time unselfishly to others; caring for family members and helping to raise her grandchildren.

Celestine accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and was baptized at Saint’s Union Deliverance Church in 1989. She remained a faithful and devoted church member for many years.

She enjoyed reading her Bible, singing old hymns, shopping, and traveling. She was the official Thanksgiving Cook hosting dinner for the entire family year to year. She set a tradition of bringing in every new year with a family dinner serving her loved black-eye peas

Our mother departed this life on Monday, August 27, 2018. She was preceded in death by her 3 brothers and 3 sisters.

She leaves to cherish her memory her children Granville, Gwendolyn, Sandra, Waymon and Anthony; Sister-in-law Isabel Ramsey; grandchildren, Paul, Michael, Jermaine, Derek, Aaron, Donald, Tiffany, Desiree, Jordan, Mia, Madison, Anthony, Amie, Sophia, Kristin and Kaylan, and a host of great grandchildren, one God-daughter; dozens of nieces, nephews; and her church family.
